I started teaching myself guitar during the dawn of the internet, but unfortunately for me – lessons were few in those days. I did just fine, but now I look at all the guitar instruction that is available and know that I could have learned much faster. Learning guitar free online is so easy because you can go at your own pace, naturally you don’t have to pay anything, and you can make mistakes in the comfort of your own home without feeling embarassed. The only problem with going the completely free route is that there is a good chance that the information that you learn will have to be randomly pieced together with very little making sense. This was my situation years ago. This is why instead of trying to completely learn guitar for free online, I would recommend investing in a really cheap guitar course. The reason for this is that a well put together guitar program is going to be set up so that information is explained in the right order. Its also nice to have a real guitar teacher for the price of one or two lessons, and to have the power to hit fast forward or rewind when you need to. However, you can branch off when you feel the need and study other things online once you start to see how everything flows. Getting set up with an affordable little guitar course is also nice if you want to try guitar but aren’t sure that you will stick with it. This makes the risk factor go down quite a bit and takes the pressure off. If you want a sure thing, learning guitar using a pre constructed guitar course is probably one of the quickest and most affordable ways to learn and master guitar.
